Musebox Alpha Rev CD Review & Givewaway is Closed

Alpha Rev's New Morning Review & Giveaway
Giveaway is now Closed
Congrats to winner: abfantom #3

Alpha Rev consists of seven charismatic gents who write songs filled with sweeping harmonies, intimate lyrics, and a sound many in the press have likened to Coldplay.  Their single “New Morning” has been in constant rotation on VH1’s ‘You Outta Know” and licensed to TV shows such as MTV’s ‘True Life’, NYC Prep, Melrose Place, and Greek.

Formed in 2005, Alpha Rev has won countless fans in its home base of Austin and beyond. Along with McPherson the band includes Derek Dunivan (guitar), Tommy Roalson (drums), Dave Wiley (cello), Alex Dunlap (bass), Brian Lewis Batch (violin) and Derek Morris (keyboards). Imbued with a wide spectrum of influences from classical to arena rock, the new album is about finding a way out of emotional purgatory. "Life goes in a straight line for some people, but for me, life has been a lot of extremes," McPherson says. "I have always felt more comfortable if I was hot or cold, angry or happy.

Front man Casey McPherson’s gripping, emotional songwriting dares others to search out hope in the bleakest of circumstances and the unique instrumentation pays homage to the classical music that gave him his love for the art. While McPherson’s songwriting and rock-inspired vocals form the core of Alpha Rev’s music, he is supported by a unique cast of musicians that fill Alpha Rev’s songs with as much classical beauty as American rock. In addition to the typical guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums, Alpha Rev boasts a violin and cello that add brilliantly to the band’s sound. Together, Alpha Rev offers up layered, orchestral, melody-driven masterpieces able to turn strangers to super fans in a single listen.
I received a copy of Alpha Rev's new album "New Morning" for review.  I had never heard of this band until being notified by Musebox.  I really like this band!  They remind me a lot of Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, The Killers, and The Fray!  I would describe their music as a mix of alternative and rock.  I really enjoy this album and would recommend it to anyone that favorites similar music.

The Rattles rock like no other band around!  "Friends that play together, stay together!" That's our motto! The Rattles are a lively band of furry, family-friendly critters who released their debut album on August 17, ‘RATTLE ON’. Working in the classic traditions of The Beatles, Moxy Fruvous, The Monkees, and They Might Be Giants, The Rattles apply a fresh fusion of classic rock and power pop that is sure to appeal to fans of all ages and put them on the map.

The unique animal collective consists of four stellar musicians and life-long friends – Gus, Kitty, Sal, and Hal – who describe their upcoming release as “the album we were born to make”. From start to finish, ‘RATTLE ON’ provides a solid testament to The Rattles’ undeniable musical ingenuity, jammed with catchy pop melodies and feel-good vibes that are sure to inspire lots of head swaying and booty-shaking.

My son, Brice, loves music!  When I gave him 'Rattle On' he listened to the CD over and over in his bedroom.  He loves anything "cool" and "that rocks", so this was the perfect CD.   His favorite song was "Apple of My Eye".  He sang this song all day after hearing it.  My 21 month old even picked up on it, haha.  What makes "Rattle On" such a great CD is the "easy to pick up" words, the catchy tunes, and the beat that reflects most songs of yesterday and even some of today.  I would recommend this CD to anyone who has children that love music!

You can download "Wavy Lane" by The Rattles to hear for yourself!
